Jump Space’s specially adapted centre is split into 2 gyms. The main gym has two trampolines; an accessible play area with climbing frame, swings, slides and spinner; a large ball pool; and a large sensory room with interactive floor and wall panels. The small gym has a trampoline, soft play, sensory play with interactive floor and wall panels and a cocoon type swing. We have ceiling and mobile hoists throughout the centre.
Jump Space provides a safe, fun, understanding and non-judgemental environment to play for disabled people and creates a supportive social space for everyone who comes in. Our unique provision means that siblings can enjoy trampolining sessions alongside their brothers and sisters while parents and carers can chat and network.
Our charitable aims and objectives state that we want to provide opportunities to people with disabilities “allowing them to enjoy physical recreation in a safe, accessible and understanding environment” through offering “facilities for sport and recreation for groups or individuals who, for reasons of disability, impairment or social isolation, may have been otherwise excluded or deterred from accessing other clubs and activities.”
The centre has:
  • Free onsite parking with further free parking on the street.
  • An accessible toilet with adult sized changing plinth and track hoist.
  • Ceiling hoists in our large sensory room and over the ball pool, and a mobile hoist in the main gym enabling access to the swing and spinner.
  • The small gym also has a mobile hoist.
  • The Rest/Bite area is upstairs (we have a lift). Here you can rest before or after a session and you are welcome to have your own food and drink here too.

What does a session look like?
In a session, participants on the trampolines are progressively taught a wide range of skills using a range of communication methods by our trained staff. When not on the trampolines, they are able to choose between activities: the slide, the swing, ball pool, soft play, climbing or the sensory room.
The small gym provides a slightly different experience. Here we run small group (up to 5 participants) or 1:1 sessions.

In all our sessions, staff are happy to work as part of a wider team. We love to hear when people have had haircuts for the first time, or have brushed their teeth every day. We celebrate with you when new things are explored or skills are gained.
We are experienced in working alongside other professionals such as teachers, physios, OTs, SALTs and so on, providing opportunities both on and off the trampoline for practice of skills, sensory circuits and so on.

, What is Rebound Therapy?
Rebound Therapy is an intensive therapeutic 1:1 technique that uses trampolines to provide opportunities for movement, exercise and recreation for people with additional needs. Physically, it helps to increase strength, stamina, balance, posture and co-ordination. It can also aid confidence-building, communication and social skills.
We can offer Rebound Therapy within all our classes and drop in sessions.
We also can offer our 1:1 room for those wishing to access Rebound Therapy in a more private space.
What are the benefits of trampolining and Rebound Therapy?
Some of the benefits are:
Improved balance and proprioceptive awareness
Improved bowel function
Improved muscle tone (increase or decrease)
Improved sensory integration
Improved mobility
Improved confidence
Improved cardiovascular fitness
Improved independence

What are the benefits of the play area?
The soft play area has been designed to support the development of movement through play. Some of our soft play items are bespoke, designed to be big enough for adults to use as well as children. The soft play area allows free play, encouraging balance, rolling, jumping, object control, coordination and teamwork. This allows for further proprioceptive, vestibular, tactile and sensory input. The play also supports development of social skills, communication and promotes independence.
The swing, with the full support seat in three different sizes, can be hoisted into. It has a 5 point harness.
You may also find one of our volunteers working in the play area. Their peer support, as they initiate and join in with games, is invaluable for many.
